When
he was a young man, my perception of what was real and possible in the
universe is based on the premise that the "facts" and "logic" were the
cornerstones of what was widely recognized as the "reality" . I agree with this misconception, of course, without realizing that
there is magic in the world, in fact, often only be in the right place
at the right time to find out.
My concept of reality was about to change forever on the beautiful island of Rhodes, Greece. Rhodes is full of mystery, as once was the home of one of the seven wonders of the world, the Colossus of Rhodes, a huge bronze statue erected in 280 BC, more than 30 meters high, stands majestically set guard the port.
It was in this mythical scenario I found my friend and good friend Wendell travel. Wendell and I had been all over Europe for several months and had dared to Rhodes with the intention to see the place where the famous statue had stood. We were attracted by the beauty and charm of the island, and intrigued by the inexplicable feeling in the air that it was a place where anything can happen.
As walk through the old part of town a sunny afternoon, suddenly, we heard a loud flapping wings and powerful directly above. We looked, and we were surprised by the presence of the largest pelican've ever seen. To our surprise the pelican gracefully glided to a landing directly in front of us.
We were in a great silence on the bird, stunned. Pelican then started walking on the sidewalk with care, as if he had a destination in clear head. We quickly security remote monitoring to ensure no dissuading her from her goal.
It was a hot summer day, and the custom of the island, shops lining the street had their open to receive visitors the doors and allow the cooling sea breezes to enter the premises.
